Gents,

I've set this topic up for anyone to give feedback on the new routes.  Please let us know right here if the times are too long for the trip or too short. That way, they can be adjusted correctly.

Thanks in advance

Hi Mark, first of let me say great work with the new schedule.

Just one observation from my flight to Detroit from Queen Alia. Granted I've only done it once, and the outbound time was about spot on, however inbound i was back over 2 hours early. I know its only one example but given the predominant wind direction around the globe, (Westerly), I reckon you could probably reduce the block time on the i/b leg by about an hour for starters and see how things go with that. I was using real world winds and they weren't even that strong, only about 40 knots tail on average all the way back.

Keep up the good work.     Chris

Chris,

Many thanks for your reply and congratulations on being the first to respond.  I'll admit though, that that flight was not put in by myself.  All flights that include the Heathrow stopover are new as well as flights to J'burg and Sydney as well as short haul flights from OJAI and OMDB.

I will though take your comments on board and shorten the flight by one hour on the i/b leg.

If anyone has anymore ideas, comments or critisms please feel free to let me know via this string.  I welcome all your ideas.

Dubai-Vienna is listed as 7 hrs 50 minutes. I flew it (a bit fast) in 5 hrs and 30 minutes  (flight time) I would suggest we trim it down to 6 hrs.

Mark, I've changed it...

OMDB - LOWW is 6hrs 25 minutes.
LOWW - OMDB is 5hrs 45 minutes.

They're the correct times.

Thanks Luke,

I'll amend the Detroit-Amman flight as well.

Keep 'em coming ;)

We dont really need to run all the flights through LHR. We could run flights to other cities in Europe as well. The Only flight that needed a stopover was LAX.

It's a finance disaster to have numerous airports we fly via too. With all flights that need to be going via LHR, it means we only need 2-4 gates at Heathrow which is a good base for more PAX, and means we're not buying gates at numerous other airports and having to maintain a ridiculous amount of Airport Fees.

Why not just run nonstop. Im not sure I would want to spend time at Heathrow on my way to Dubai if I was a customer. I would want to get on the plane and sleep all the way to Dubai.

True, but at the same time, it keeps our ticket prices reasonable; non-stop flights with an aircraft half full aren't good either! LHR offers us even more pax to fill our flights, and it's only a 2 hour stop-over for most cases.

Another alternative would be to add new US stopovers. We could run LAX-ORD-DXB, DTW-YYZ-AMM,or DTW-YUL-AMM, and run YYZ-DXB nonstop. Toronto is the biggest biggest Canadian Market and I assure you  there will be no trouble filling seats on a flight from Toronto to Dubai. We have lots of Asia bound people here.

I had some thought and there is a large Arab-American community in the Detroit Metro area. I used to live there and I think it would make sense to have nonstop service. The Chicago flight could make a stop in Montreal.

ARABIAN is either going to have one "via" airport or no-one. At the end of the day an Airline is to make Money, and having to purchase Gates at other airfields conflict with the best intention of profit. Having the stop over at the busiest international airport, is good for business, regardless of whether London has a large Arab community or not.

Aggrey,

Mahmoud and I spoke about this at length and we both agreed that LHR would be the ideal airport due to other commitments.  Therefore,  The US flights leave from EGLL.

Plus,  flights past the east coast are too far from OMDB and therefore unrealistic.

We only need the stops westbound. The stops are good for business but it would still make us quite a bit of money to have more stops in North America between airports we already serve. The only airport I mentioned we dont serve is Toronto. That should fill the plane nonstop anyway.  I think we could shift the A340-300 fleet over to eastern North America. We should try to keep the A340-200s until we have the capacity The A330 has no problem making Europe and back.We should send the 744 to London. the extra capacity in London. We should try sending the A340-500 nonstop to LAX.It's long range isnt being used right now.It would work with the right routing. I also recommend replacing the A340-200s flying to Lisbon with smaller aircraft like the A330. I think we are way overstretched in the wrong areas in terms of our route network and the planes we actually have.
