FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE

Arabian Airlines has put together the following tutorial for all pilots to use to assist them in ensuring their time at Arabian Airlines is used to the fullest. These tutorials below are generally applicable to all aspects of Arabian Airlines operations, and we hope that they are helpful.

CALCULATING FUEL USED

To calculate your fuel used, begin by writing down the amount of fuel your aircraft has before push back. If you are flying the A319 at a full load, it is around 40,000 pounds. After landing and shut down, write down the amount of fuel that you have left. Let us say for example that after landing, your A319 has 21,000 pounds of fuel left, you subtract that amount from the 40,000 you wrote down before take off. In this case, 40,000 - 21,000 = 19,000. This means that for this leg of your flight, you used 19,000 pounds of fuel. This number, 19,000, is then reported in the "FUEL USED" section of your PiRep.

SEARCHING FLIGHTS & FLYING THEM

Arabian Airlines offers many flights to destinations all over the world. For your CAT rating, there are over 150 flights for you to choose from. To find them, go to www.ArabianVA.com. You will see, on the main page, the "search flights," with a picture of the Arabian Wings next to it. You will see three boxes: "Search Departures," "Search by Day," "Search by ICAO." Click on "Search by ICAO" and ensure that the circle next to it is green. In the text box below it, write the four letter ICAO code of the airport you wish to fly out of. In this case, type in "OJAI." Click "Load Flights."

The next page will show you a long list of flights departing from Queen Alia International Airport. It is in a chart format and easy to read. In the aircraft column, look for a flight that you may be interested in flying. For the purposes of this tutorial, let us click on ID# AN004, from OJAI to OPKC, departing at 06:00Z. The Aircraft to be used is the A319-131. To Book the flight, click "Book." However click on "Click" below the "More Info" column for more information about the flight. Booking a flight is not required.

After clicking on "Click," you will see a new page with all the flight's information. You will see that the flight is scheduled to departure OJAI at 06:00Z, and arrive at OPKC at 10:15Z. The total flight distance is approximately 1690nm, and the aircraft to be used is A319-131 JY-ABA. It is best to write this information down, or print this page, and begin planning your flight. It is suggested that you print this page out for your convenience.

Note: This method is applicable to all CAT ratings.

Once you have printed this page out and taken down all the information, you may begin your flight by starting flight simulator, logging into VATSIM (if possible, not required) and flying away!

FLIGHT PLANNING & OPERATIONS RESOURCES

Arabian Airlines heavily uses the VATSIM network for all of its flights. We also use the most realistic tools to help us plan our flights.

A good flight planner can be found here: http://rfinder.asalink.net/free. It will calculate your routes using real world restrictions and airways depending on which AIRAC you currently have. It is widely used and heavily recommended by Arabian Airlines.

For Charts for Queen Alia International Airport, as well as sceneries and other resources, please visit http://www.vatjo.net. The VATSIM Jordanian FIR is the home of Arabian Airlines' Amman operations.

For Charts for Dubai International Airport, as well as sceneries and other resources, please visit http://vatuae.vatme.net. The VATSIM Emirates FIR is the home of Arabian Airlines' Dubai operations on the VATSIM network.

For General Resources and links to VATSIM Middle East operations, charts, resources and other tools, please visit http://www.vatme.net.

FILING YOUR PIREP

To file your PiRep, log in with your AN username and password, and click on "File a PiRep" from the top menu. You will be taken to a page that has one of two things: a box that says "Select a Flight," or, if you have booked a flight, a box that says "Pre-Booked Flight." If you have flown your pre-booked flight, click on "fly flight" and fill out the PiRep form. If you have not booked a flight, you will see the "Select A Flight" box.

Scroll down to your departure airport and then click on Show Destinations.

IMPORTANT NOTE: THERE ARE TWO QUEEN ALIA INTL SELECTIONS. PLEASE USE THE SECOND ONE FROM THE TOP. YOU CAN TELL WHICH ONE IS CORRECT BY THE FACT THAT THE CORRECT ONE HAS THE MOST DESTINATIONS.

Once you have loaded your destinations, scroll down to the appropriate Arriving Airport and click on "Load PiRep."

Fill out the information required, including the Date of Departure, Passengers, Fuel Used, Mach Speed during Cruise, Aircraft Type and Registration, Flight ID (Flight Number), route, Pilot Comments, Time Taken enroute and whether or not your flight was flown on the VATSIM Network.

Once this information has been filled in, double check it for accuracy and then click on "Send" and you will receive a notice that your PiRep has been sent for approval.

PiREP RESOURCES

PiRep Assist Form: http://arabianva.com/arb/PirepAssistForm.zip. Print this page out and fill it out during the flight. Please note that the Rank chart is out of date on this particular chart. An up to date one can be found at http://arabianva.com/arb/fleet.php.
